I’m Thinking Of Leaving Town is a collection of original paintings and songs by Harry Hancock, shaped by a shifting state of mind.
The work is rooted in mountaintop living, changing skies, cloud movement, sudden storms, silence, distance, and the altered sense of time that comes with being closer to the elements.
The songs and paintings were developed in dialogue with one another, with recurring moods and images passing between guitar and canvas.
Some works emerge from specific lived moments: the comfort of winter fog, bursts of percussive rain, the whistle of the wind, strange sunshine during a storm, the release of stepping outside the logic of the city. Others reflect the emotional and psychological changes that accompany relocation: disorientation, curiosity, isolation, nostalgia, freedom, and a growing attentiveness to weather, atmosphere, and colour.
Together, the paintings and songs form a connected exhibition of original work — painted, composed, performed, recorded, and developed by the artist.
